She’s one of Australia’s iconic Drag performers….if you’ve been to Oxford Street, Sydney, chances are you’ve seen this episode’s guest up on stage, dressed in something outrageously fabulous.

Its Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras this week, and we get to chat with Maxi Shield! For the past 25 years Maxi has been evolving into one of Australia’s most recognisable Drag Queens, and one of the stars of Ru Paul’s Drag Race Down Under. We’ve seen Maxi perform many many times. She’s fun, clever and a star on stage. Spending time with Maxi, we chatted about the early days of Les Girls that led the way for today’s performers, also the days of ‘Drag Magic’ when transformations were mysterious, and what it’s like to express the ‘fabulous’ in yourself.
